My Learning Was Lit
This year I learned the following terms and I applied them as I read some pretty great stuff:
allusion: when you refer to the characters
plot: the main thing a story is based around by the author
theme: the main idea of a story
diction: the words the author uses
syntax: how the author puts words together
in/direct characterization: a indirect characterization is the characters actions and there voice and direct characterization is how the author talks about a certain character
static/dynamic characters: a static character stays the same throughout a story and a dynamic character changes throughout a story
symbolism: a sign or symbol that represents something important
synecdoche: a figure of speech that represents a whole thing
